New Delhi: India has taken strong action on the attack on more than 35 Durga Puja pandals in Bangladesh and the theft of the gold crown given by Prime Minister Modi from the temple. The Indian Foreign Ministry has today given a strong warning to Bangladesh's caretaker Mohammad Yunus in this matter. The Ministry of External Affairs has expressed "serious concern" over the reports of attacks on Durga Puja pandals and theft in the Kali temple in Bangladesh and has asked the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of Hindus, all other minorities and their places of worship in their country.
The Ministry of External Affairs described these incidents as "reprehensible" in a statement. It also said that these incidents follow a "planned conspiracy to desecrate" temples and deities in Bangladesh. The ministry said, "We have expressed serious concern over the attack on the Puja Mandap in Tatibazar, Dhaka and the theft at the iconic Jeshoreshwari Kali temple in Satkhira." Bangladesh daily newspaper 'Pratham Alo' reported an incident of alleged hurling of a crude bomb at a Durga Puja pandal in Tatibazar area of Old Dhaka. The report said that the bomb was thrown on Friday night, but there were no casualties.
Pandals are being decorated on a large scale in Bangladesh
There has been a tradition of decorating Durga Puja pandals on a large scale in Bangladesh. But since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, attacks on Hindus and their religious places have increased. Friday was the ninth and last day of Navratri, which is a sacred nine days for Hindus. Durga Puja is also celebrated during this period, which concludes with Dussehra or Vijayadashami on the 10th day. The Ministry of External Affairs has strongly objected to these two incidents in Bangladesh.
