Rudraprayag News Today: Tungnath temple located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand has special religious significance. The world famous Tungnath temple is known as Tritiya Kedar. It is the world's highest Shiva temple. Now the Uttarakhand government has given in-principle consent for the renovation, beautification and necessary protective works of this temple.
The state government took this decision when ABP Live prominently raised the issue of the current condition of this mythological temple and the need for its conservation. Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay had requested the state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to conserve the Tungnath temple.
ASI-GSI gave technical report
According to Ajendra Ajay, this temple is very important from the point of view of security and conservation as it is located at a very high altitude (11 thousand 942 feet above sea level). Last year, the BKTC president had written a letter to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) seeking technical advice for the renovation and security related works of this temple.
After this, experts from ASI and GSI studied the temple and prepared a special report, in which they underlined the need for conservation of the temple and strengthening its structure. On the basis of this report, BKTC also took technical advice from Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee.
Waiting for CBRI report
Recently, CBRI scientists visited Tungnath temple and their report is also expected soon. After this, BKTC president had requested the government to give in-principle consent for the conservation of Tungnath temple citing the reports of ASI and GSI.
Now Harichandra Semwal, Secretary, Religious Affairs and Culture in the state government, wrote a letter to BKTC and granted permission for this work. The government has given clear instructions that keeping in mind the mythology of the temple, all the work will be done through CBRI. During this, it will be ensured that all the work is carried out in coordination with the experts of ASI and GSI.
BKTC expressed gratitude to the government
Welcoming this decision, BKTC President Ajendra Ajay has expressed gratitude to the Pushkar Singh Dhami government of the state. He said that Tungnath temple is not only a religious place, but it is also a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. He said that the renovation of this temple would be an important step for the tourism and devotees of Uttarakhand.
It is worth noting that ABP Live had exposed the current condition of Tungnath temple in a special report. It was told in the report that the structure of the temple is getting weak with time and there is an urgent need to preserve it.
Apart from this, beautification of the temple and necessary protective works were also recommended so that it can be preserved for future generations. After the report
of ABP Live, the state government took the issue seriously and agreed to the conservation and renovation works of the temple based on the opinion and recommendations of experts.
This step will protect the structure of the temple, as well as preserve the ancient heritage of the Tungnath temple. This decision will not only help in protecting the mythology of the temple, but it will also promote religious tourism in Uttarakhand. Preserving the importance of Tungnath temple and its historical heritage is an important step from the point of view of protecting the cultural heritage of the state.
