The real meaning of donation is to give up your right over the thing given. In Hinduism, giving donations in religious programs to the poor, needy or at religious places is considered important. It is said that the person who gives donations according to his capacity remains blessed by the gods and goddesses and happiness and prosperity come in his life.

There could be a money problem

In Hinduism, broom is associated with Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, it is believed that broom should never be donated to anyone. By doing this, Goddess Lakshmi can become angry with you, due to which money related problems start increasing.  

Do not donate these things even by mistake

According to the scriptures, one should never donate sharp objects like knives, blades, needles or scissors etc. From a religious point of view, doing so is not considered auspicious at all. This can lead to domestic discord.

According to the beliefs of Hinduism, donating mustard oil can bring blessings from Shani Dev, the god of justice. But during this time, one should also keep in mind that one should never donate used oil or spoiled oil. Otherwise, Shani Dev can get angry, due to which you start getting inauspicious results instead of auspicious results.

It is mentioned in the scriptures that a person should always give donations according to his capacity. Never do charity by taking loan etc. On the other hand, if you are donating food to a needy person, then keep in mind that the food should not be stale or spoiled. Otherwise you do not get any benefit from this donation.
