Mexico City. Climate scientist Claudia Sheinbaum has created history by achieving a big victory in Mexico's elections. With this, Claudia Sheinbaum achieved the distinction of becoming Mexico's first female president.

Not only this, 61-year-old Sheinbaum has created a record by winning the highest percentage of votes in the history of Mexican democracy. She got 58.8 percent votes after counting 82 percent votes. Sheinbaum has previously been the mayor of Mexico City.

A fair and prosperous Mexico must be reached with peace - Sheinbaum

Claudia Sheinbaum thanked the people after winning the general election in Mexico. She said, "For the first time in the 200-year history of the country's republic, I will become the first woman president of Mexico. We have conquered a diverse democratic Mexico. We have to move forward with peace and harmony to build a fair and prosperous Mexico."

Sheinbaum has been part of the panel of United Nations climate scientists

Sheinbaum was part of the panel of UN climate scientists that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In her victory speech on Sunday night, Sheinbaum thanked current President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and called him an extraordinary person. She said that Lopez has worked for the betterment of Mexico.
