Every year, Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, is celebrated from Chaturthi Tithi to Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. During Chhath, the Sun God is worshiped. This festival begins with Nahai Khay. Nahai Khay is celebrated on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Kharna is celebrated the next day. On the other hand, Arghya is offered to the setting Sun God on the Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Whereas, Arghya is offered to the rising Sun God on the Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Chhath Puja concludes with offering Arghya to the rising Sun God. The devotees observe Nirjala fast for 36 hours continuously after Kharna Puja. Let us know the correct date and time of Chhath Puja-

 

Chhath Puja auspicious time (Chhath Puja 2024 Subh Muhurat)

According to the Vedic calendar, the Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month will begin on November 07 at 12:41 am and will end on November 08 at 12:34 am. Hence, evening Arghya will be offered on November 07. Morning Arghya will be offered on the next day i.e. November 08.

When is it Nahay Khay? (kab hai Nahay Khay)

Nahai Khay is celebrated on the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On this day, the devotees worship the Sun God after bathing and meditating in holy rivers including Ganga. After this, they eat satvik food. They eat rice, lentils and gourd vegetable in their meal. According to the Panchang calculation, Nahai Khay is on 05 November.

When is Kharna? (Kab hai Kharna)

Kharna is celebrated on the second day of Lok Aastha Mahaparva i.e. Panchami of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month . On this day, the devotees observe Nirjala fast throughout the day. In the evening, after taking bath and meditation, they worship Chhathi Maiya. After the worship, the devotees take prasad. After this, the Nirjala fast begins. This year Kharna is on 06 November.

When will the offering be made

  • Arghya will be offered to the setting sun on the Shashthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month i.e. on 7th November.
  • Arghya will be offered to the rising sun on the Saptami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month i.e. on 08 November.
