This year the Chhath festival begins on 6 November 2024, Tuesday. On the day of Nahay Khay, women who perform Chhath take a bath and worship God. After which food is cooked without garlic and onion. On the day of Nahay Khay, food is cooked with bottle gourd and gram lentils.

The second day of Chhath Mahaparva is called Kharna. This year Kharna is on 6 November 2024, Wednesday. On the day of Kharna, fasting women keep a waterless fast. In the evening, jaggery kheer is cooked and after placing it on a roti and offering it to God, it is distributed among all the people as prasad.
