Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made it clear that his government will not back down under any circumstances regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implemented in the state. He said that the suggestions of those opposing live-in relationships will be respected, but the government will not back down from its decision. The Chief Minister made this statement in a TV channel program in New Delhi.

Chief Minister Dhami said that in the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP had promised that if the government is formed, the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Uttarakhand, the government has fulfilled its promise to the people. He said that the live-in relationship has been debated several times in the Supreme Court, but the government is now firm on its stand.

He said, "Live-in relationship is not a part of our culture, but this subject has come up in the courts many times. We believe in democracy and welcome suggestions, but the government will not back down on this matter. Regarding the Chardham Yatra, Chief Minister Dhami said that people have to understand the difference between pilgrimage and tourism. He said that Chardham Yatra has religious significance, it cannot be made a means of entertainment.

The attempt to convert Chardham Yatra into tourism is wrong- CM Dhami

Talking about the ban on reel culture, CM Dhami said, "Chardham Yatra is a religious journey, trying to convert it into tourism is wrong. Running old reels and entertainment activities affect the religious nature of the journey, which sends the wrong message." He said that after the disaster of 2013, reconstruction work was done in Kedarnath under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To make Kedarnath grand and divine, the government took full care of ecology. He said that for development in the state, priority is being given to the balance of ecology and economy.

 Also talked about Silkyara tunnel accident

CM Dhami said that natural disasters are the biggest challenge in Uttarakhand. He said that incidents like cloudburst, landslides and avalanches often occur here. Referring to the Silkyara tunnel accident, the Chief Minister said that this rescue operation was successful with the guidance and cooperation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that now scientists are researching this incident, so that new technology can be developed to deal with such situations in future.

The campaign to demolish illegal religious places will continue- CM Dhami

The Chief Minister said that his government launched a campaign against illegal shrines and madrasas, which was carried out within the ambit of the law. He said that the campaign to demolish illegal religious places built on government land will continue. CM Dhami said that "more than 6000 acres of government land has been freed from encroachment so far under the campaign against land jihad. He said that illegal madrasas have been sealed and strict action was taken wherever illegal activities were taking place.
