
Milkipur Upchunav 2025: More than 65 percent of voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm in the ongoing voting for the by-election on the Milkipur assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh. According to the Election Commission, 65 percent voting took place till 3 pm. Officials said that voting is taking place peacefully. Voting started at seven in the morning and will continue till five in the evening.
The Milkipur bypoll has become a prestige battle between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the seat is part of the politically important Ayodhya district.

In the 2022 assembly elections, SP's Awadhesh Prasad defeated BJP's Baba Gorakhnath by 13,338 votes. When Awadhesh Prasad was elected MP from Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency on SP ticket in the 2024 elections, this seat became vacant.
BSP and Congress have not participated in this seat in the current elections. BJP has nominated Chandrabhanu Paswan and SP has nominated Ajit Prasad, son of Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad. Apart from this, Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), the party of MP Chandrashekhar Azad, has nominated SP rebel Santosh Kumar Chaudhary from Nagina Lok Sabha seat.
