This footpath should be only 3 to 3.25 feet. The Mayor of Kanpur herself came into the field regarding this and after arguing with the Metro officials, the Mayor got the bulldozer run on the illegal construction.
Actually, Mayor Pramila Pandey was passing through Parade Square for some personal work. Then her car narrowly escaped from colliding with a magic car. The Mayor scolded her driver and asked how are you driving. After which the Mayor's attention was drawn to the Metro work and its officials from the driver's answer. The driver told that there is no space on the road, the road has become narrow. After which the Mayor got down on the road and inspected it. Then he saw that the road widening work has indeed been done.

On enquiry, it was found that the metro engineers and other workers were building a 6 meter footpath on the main road and half of the work was already done. When the mayor asked the contractor, he neither had a work order nor a map. After which the municipal corporation and metro officials were summoned on the spot and the measurement was started. In which it was found that the footpath built by the metro was wrong. After which the angry mayor scolded everyone and got the entire footpath demolished with a bulldozer.

The way the work is going on on the roof will have to be controlled and strict action will also be taken.
