Dhaka: After meeting Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in New York, Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor Mohammad Touhid Hussain made a big statement. He described India as Bangladesh's biggest neighbor. Hussain said that India and Bangladesh agree to maintain good working relations with each other. However, the issue of Sheikh Hasina was not discussed during the meeting.
Will Durga Puja get approval?
When Tauhid Hussain was asked whether Durga Puja will be allowed in Bangladesh? He said that Durga Puja has been happening in Bangladesh for centuries. There is no such example when Durga Puja has not happened. This is quite strange. Some people may not like Durga Puja. Durga Puja has been done in this country for centuries and there is no such example when Durga Puja has not happened. Those worshippers who want to do Durga Puja, they can do it. There is no doubt about it.
More attacks on Muslims than Hindus
On the question of attacks on Hindus, Tauheed said that there was a vacuum in the administration after Sheikh Hasina left. Incidents took place at some places, but it would be completely wrong to see it as an anti-Hindu movement. The violence during the movement was not against Hindus or Muslims. Most of the violence was against Awami League loyalists. If we calculate on the basis of religion, it will be known that there have been more attacks on Muslims than Hindus.
Trade started between both the countries
Tauheed Hussain further said that trade between the two countries has resumed soon after the fall of the government in Bangladesh. The projects which are underway will continue. The agreed agreement will also be implemented.
Indian visa offices not fully open
Tauhid Hussain said that Indian visa offices have not fully opened yet. It depends on India when it opens it? Our offices are issuing visas to people coming from Bangladesh to India.
we are interested in india
Bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India will continue as normal. Both countries also recognize that they need each other's help. Tauheed says that instead of hostility amid tensions, both countries must find a way to serve each other's people. We are as interested in India as India is in Bangladesh.
