Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has recently made a big disclosure related to his health in an interview. He told that during the shooting of Singham Again, he was going through mild depression, for which he is also taking therapy. In the same interview, he also told that he also has Hashimoto's disease (Arjun Kapoor Battles Hashimoto's Disease), due to which his weight increases even due to little physical stress. Now the question arises that what is this disease (Hashimoto's Disease) and what effect can it have on a person's health.

However, the reason behind why Hashimoto occurs is not clear. Environment and genetic conditions are considered responsible for this. Dr. Verma said that although this disease can happen to anyone at any age, it mostly occurs in women, that too between the age of 30-50 years.

 

 

What are the symptoms of Hashimoto's disease?

The symptoms of Hashimoto's are not easily visible and they take a long time to develop. However, some of its common symptoms are as follows-

 

  • Fatigue – persistent tiredness or lack of energy
  • Weight gain – sudden weight gain despite normal eating habits
  • Dry skin – skin feels dry, rough and flaky
  • Cold sensitivity – feeling cold even in warm environments
  • Constipation - problems with digestion
  • Thinning of hair – thinning and weakening of the hair
  • Depression and mood swings- In this disease, a person may also have emotional disorders, such as anxiety or depression
  • Swelling – swelling or inflammation in the face
  • Muscle weakness – weakness in the muscles of the arms and thighs

How to manage this disease?

Hashimoto is quite difficult to manage, but it can be controlled to some extent with these methods-

 

  • Medical checkup- Get regular checkups from a doctor. This helps in knowing how the thyroid hormone is working and helps in controlling its symptoms.
  • Balanced diet- Eating a healthy diet gives energy and keeps the health good. Include foods rich in selenium, zinc and iodine in your diet.
  • Exercise – To control Hashimoto, it is very important to exercise daily.
