Sambhal Prithviraj Chauhan Bawdi: Just a few days ago, the ASI team along with the administration team visited the stepwell of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Today this stepwell is in a dilapidated condition and only one and a half storeys are left, but 130 years ago the condition was different.
During its investigation, ABP News found a report of the Archeological Survey of India dated 1891, which mentions the step well of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan located in Sambhal. On page 38 of "The Monumental Antiquities and Inscriptions" written in 1891 by Elias Anton Farhar, the then officer of ASI, it was told that a three-storey step well is located in the western part of Sambhal, which was built with thick and big stones in the Hindu period. Also, there is a green garden around the step well.
In the ASI report, the actual length of the stepwell is 3 floors.
In such a situation, it is clear from this ASI report that today the actual length of the stepwell is 3 floors, of which only one and a half floors are left today. However, after inspecting the stepwell recently, Sambhal DM Dr. Rajendra Pansia told ABP News that he is trying to start the excavation of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan's stepwell soon under the guidance of the ASI team.
