Importance of Amarnath Yatra

It is mentioned in Hindu scriptures that Lord Shiva narrated the Amar Katha to Goddess Parvati in this holy cave. According to religious beliefs, the devotee who visits Amarnath with a true heart and has darshan of Baba Barfani, all his sins are destroyed and finally he attains salvation. It is also said that by visiting this pilgrimage site, a person gets as much virtue as visiting 23 pilgrimage sites. The height of the self-manifested Shivalinga of Amarnath keeps increasing and decreasing depending on the phases of the moon.

The journey to Amarnath starts from Ashadh Purnima, which continues throughout the month of Sawan and concludes on the day of Shravan Purnima i.e. Raksha Bandhan. It is believed that Lord Shiva first came to this cave on the day of Shravan Purnima, therefore, visiting this cave on this day is considered to be of special importance. This is the reason why Chhari Mubarak is installed near the Shivling in the cave on the day of Shravan Purnima i.e. Raksha Bandhan.

What is "Stick Happy"

"Chhadi Mubarak" is actually a religious tradition of the Amarnath Yatra, which is considered very important. During this, the sacred mace or stick related to Lord Shiva is taken to the Amarnath cave, which also symbolizes the end of the yatra.
