The roof of an under-construction building at Kannauj railway station collapsed. Many workers were buried in the accident. The railways issued a statement in this regard and said that many workers were injured due to shuttering failure during slab casting. They were sent to the hospital. Relief and rescue work has been completed. Kanpur Commissioner K Vijayendra Pandian said that about 28 people have been rescued. 6 people are seriously injured but are out of danger. There is no report of any loss of life so far.
Railways formed an inquiry committee
Railways said that all the injured have been admitted to the local hospital. Divisional Railway Manager of Izzat Nagar Division Veena Sinha and other officials led the relief and rescue work. NDRF team was also deployed in the relief and rescue work. A committee of four senior officials has been formed to investigate this incident, which will conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the incident. On the incident of collapse of the lintel of the under-construction building at Kannauj railway station, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this is a very sad incident. An investigation committee has also been formed there.
Compensation announced for the injured
The railway has announced compensation for the workers injured in the incident. Rs 50,000 will be given to the general injured and Rs 2,50,000 will be given to the seriously injured. This payment is being made by the railway administration.
Akhilesh Yadav's statement came out
On the other hand, Kannauj MP and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the Kannauj incident is very sad. There was a need to maintain safety during construction. Negligence has been shown and the result is that complete information is still not available whether all the workers are alive or not. We hope that no worker will lose his life. The government is negligent and whether it is a small or big work, negligence as well as corruption is involved in it. It is the responsibility of the government to first get the workers treated and the government should help them.
