Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute, a leading Indian vaccine manufacturer, is going to buy a 50 percent stake in Bollywood's veteran producer Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Serene Productions, led by Adar Poonawalla, will acquire a 50 percent stake in Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. 

Adar Poonawala will buy 50% stake for Rs 1000 crore

This deal between Serene Productions and Dharma Productions will be for Rs 1000 crore. After this deal, the remaining 50 percent stake in Dharma Productions will remain with Karan Johar and he will remain the executive chairman of the company. Whereas, Apoorva Mehta will continue to work as the CEO of Dharma Productions.

Aims to reach new heights in the coming years

A statement said, "With Poonawala's investment, Dharma Productions has been valued at Rs 2000 crore." Adar Poonawala said on this investment, "We hope to build and develop Dharma and take it to greater heights in the coming years." Karan Johar said on Serene Productions' investment in his company, "This partnership is a perfect combination of our ability to present emotional stories and visionary business strategies."

Raine Group has acted as the exclusive financial advisor for Dharma. AZB & Partners acted as the legal advisor for Dharma Productions. While JSA has acted as the legal advisor for Serene Productions.

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has done 6 films this year

Let us tell you that Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has produced about 6 films this year. Among them, Yodha, Bad News, Devra and Jigra are big names. Next year also many films of Dharma Productions will be released. Apart from one film each in March, April and August, many more films are to be released next year.
