In a scene from the film, a fireman says that the favourite word of the fire brigade is 'paagal'. In 'paagal', Pa means water, Ga means gas and L means light. These are the three points that everyone should turn off before leaving their house, so that there is minimum risk of fire. The job of a fire brigade is not as easy as it looks. Firemen save people's lives by risking their own lives. Despite this, they do not get the respect and acceptance they deserve.

Rahul Dholakia has raised this topic in the film ' Agni '. The story is set in Lower Parel in Mumbai. The head of the fire brigade team, Vitthal Rao (Pratik Gandhi) is upset that firefighters are not given due respect. His son considers his uncle Samit (Divyendu Sharma), who is in the police, as his role model instead of his father. Vitthal's wife (Sai Tamhankar) is scared when she gets a call about a fire.

Film based on incidents of arson

Vitthal rushes to the incidents of fire in the city with his team, which also includes a female firefighter Avni ( Saiyaami Kher ). Vitthal and his team also investigate the causes of the fire. He also has arguments with Samit regarding this, who does not take the investigation of these cases very seriously. Whether there is a conspiracy behind the incidents of fire or something else, the story moves forward on these aspects.

Rahul Dholakia's comeback after 7 years

Rahul Dholakia has made 'Agni' almost seven years after directing Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Raees'. With what promptness do firefighters work to rescue people trapped in a building when it catches fire? How are rules ignored? Rahul has tried to show that like our army, police and security forces at all levels, the role of a firefighter is also like that of a soldier.

a story going off track

The screenplay by Dholakia and co-writer Vijay Maurya is engaging, but they have lost their way in giving the story the right direction. Rachana Mandal and Bidhan Guha have designed the fire station and the surrounding staff quarters in an authentic way. The streets of Mumbai have been captured well by cinematographer K.U. Mohanan.

The star cast showed their power

Among the cast, Pratik Gandhi shines in portraying the inner fire of the fire brigade personnel in the role of the dutiful chief fireman. Divyendu's performance as the selfish policeman is commendable. Saiyami Kher impresses in the role of Avni. Sai Tamhankar gives full contribution in the role of Rukmini Surve. Agni succeeds in giving an important message despite some shortcomings.
