Audience's love for Hum Saath Saath Hain

Many Bollywood actors were seen together in a multi-starrer film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' released in the year 1999. This film of Rajshri Productions, famous for showing family values, had so impressed the audience that even today if this film is re-released, a huge number of audience will reach the theatres. This was the highest grossing film of that year. This film starring Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Karisma Kapoor, Mohnish Bahl, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari was a huge success.

The actress wanted to become Salman Khan's sister-in-law

Madhuri Dixit also wanted to be a part of this film. Recently, in a conversation with Radio Nasha, Sooraj Barjatya revealed that Madhuri wanted to work in this film. She wanted to play the role of Salman Khan's sister-in-law in the movie. But, the director did not agree with her proposal. She also spoke openly about the reason behind this.

He said, I told Madhuri, I am making a male dominated film, if I cast you opposite Salman then it will be a small role for you, but if I cast you with Mohnish Bahl then you will be seen in the role of Salman's sister-in-law.

The director was not comfortable

He further said, 'But she is such a sweet lady, she said it doesn't matter, I will be happy to work together. But then I myself said that I will not be comfortable. Because in her previous film, both Salman and Madhuri were in romantic roles and the success of the film established both of them as the best on-screen couple.

This is how Tabu became a part of the film

Actually, Sooraj wanted to cast an actress who had no previous association with Salman in any film. Further, the director said in the conversation, 'It was difficult to find a face for this character who had not worked with Salman before. The whole debate was on the fact that Salman is a star and so I had to cast someone who would be accepted in the role of Bhabhi, then we cast Tabu.'
