According to the news, the railway motorcycle stand is built behind the GRP police station located on platform number one of the Cantt Railway Station, where most of the motorcycles and vehicles of railway employees are parked. Late on Friday night around 1:30 am, there was a sudden short circuit, due to which a motorcycle parked nearby caught fire. After which the fire started spreading rapidly towards other vehicles as well. Railway employees and people present nearby tried to extinguish the fire but by then the fire took a terrible form.
More than 200 vehicles burnt to ashes.
The entire parking lot was engulfed in smoke. All the vehicles parked in the parking lot started burning. After this, there was chaos at the station. People started running from here to there. After which the fire brigade team was immediately informed but the fire department team also arrived late, due to which the damage was even more. More than 200 motorcycles parked in the parking lot were burnt to ashes in this fire, although there is no report of any loss of life due to this fire.
On receiving the information about the fire, CO GRP Cantt and Cantt GRP in-charge inspector Hemant Singh, police station GRP Varanasi Cantt also reached the spot. The fire brigade team somehow managed to control the fire.
