Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve: A one and a half year old baby elephant was seen in the villages adjoining Chandia and Katni in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh for the last two days. There was panic among the villagers on seeing the wild baby elephant. The forest staff was trying to rescue the baby elephant. As a result, the baby elephant was rescued today at 11 am with the help of four elephant teams and more than 100 employees.
According to Chief Forest Conservator Amit Dubey, the rescued baby elephant is about one and a half years old. Information was received from the villagers that a baby elephant was roaming in the villages adjoining Barwara and Chandia forest areas of Katni district. After receiving information from the villagers, the team of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve took permission from Bhopal and started preparations for the rescue. Four elephant teams and more than 100 employees were deployed for the rescue of the baby elephant.
Rescued at 11 am:
The elephant team and staff of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and Katni Umaria team rescued the baby elephant safely from Gudhaklaan at 11 am today. The baby elephant is being monitored. At present, efforts are being made to find out whether this baby elephant belongs to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve or has got separated from the herd from Chhattisgarh, this is being investigated.
