They proposed that when Seema dies, Priya will be busy solving the case of her sister's death. This would allow audiences to see Sridevi on screen for a longer period of time. Abbas and Mustan stated that neither of them liked the idea. They felt that if Sridevi were the only one in the film, people might lose focus on the story. Consequently, the makers cast Shilpa and Kajol as the sisters, not Sridevi.
