
News Topical, Digital Desk : Eighteen people were injured in a stampede at a football stadium on Friday during the state funeral of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Odinga died in India this week at the age of 80. Earlier on Thursday, a stampede broke out during a public viewing ceremony, leaving three people dead and 10 injured after police opened fire.
How did the stampede happen?
As the state funeral began at a stadium in the capital, Nairobi, some members of the crowd rushed forward to view Odiga's body, causing a stampede. Eighteen people were hospitalized with injuries.
Thousands of people gathered at the stadium, where Odinga's coffin was covered with the national flag for an Anglican church service. They chanted slogans and carried pictures of Odinga.
