South Korea plane crash A  major plane accident took place in South Korea on Sunday. A plane slipped off the runway at Muan International Airport in South Korea. 179 people are feared dead in this accident. People have been rescued and injured passengers have been admitted to the hospital.

It is being told that this plane was returning from Thailand. When this plane was landing at Muan Airport in South Korea, it slipped on the runway and hit a wall. Due to this the plane caught fire.

The plane slipped on the runway, caught fire after hitting the wall

According to the Korea Times, 173 Koreans, two Thai passengers and six crew members were on board the Jeju Air flight, which departed from Thailand at 1:30 a.m. and was scheduled to land at the airport at 8:30 a.m.

According to the information, the plane initially attempted to land, but could not. After this, it kept circling the airport and tried to land again, but slipped on the runway. After this, the plane hit the wall at the end of the runway and caught fire. The fire was extinguished 43 minutes after the accident. 

The accident happened at 9:07 am local time in South Korea

According to KBS World, Korea Airports Corporation and South Jeolla State fire brigade officials said the Jeju Air flight from Thailand, carrying 175 passengers and six flight attendants, was landing at the airport at 9:07 a.m. local time on Sunday when the accident occurred.

Two people were rescued alive from the plane

According to Yonhap news agency, Jeju Airlines flight 2216 was returning from Thailand. According to local authorities, two people have been rescued so far. Passengers are being evacuated from the rear part of the plane. There were a total of 181 people on board the plane. Of these, 175 were passengers and six were flight crew members.

A cloud of black smoke began to rise as soon as the accident occurred

A cloud of black smoke is seen rising from the accident site. It is also believed that the accident may have happened due to bird hit, due to which there was a technical fault in the gear during landing. The National Fire Agency said that the fire that broke out after the accident has almost been extinguished. Relief and rescue operations are still going on till the time of writing the news. The two people who were rescued alive from the plane include a passenger and a crew member.

Recently an Azerbaijani plane also crashed

Embraer 190 aircraft of Azerbaijan Airlines was going from Baku to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya province of Russia. But due to fog in Grozny, the plane could not land. After this, it moved towards the Caspian Sea. But it had lost its original route. Soon the plane crashed on the sea coast in Aktau city. 29 passengers on board the plane were rescued.
