News Topical, Digital Desk : A cabinet meeting was held in Patna on Friday under the chairmanship of CM Nitish Kumar. In this, he has approved the plan to give 125 units of free electricity to domestic consumers. Nitish Kumar held this second cabinet meeting in a week to approve the announcement of free electricity in the state. 

No electricity bill up to 125 units

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that "domestic consumers will no longer have to pay any electricity bill for up to 125 units. Not only this, under the Kutir Jyoti Yojana, the state government will bear the entire cost of installing solar power plants for extremely poor families and the government will also provide adequate support for the remaining amount." 

The CM had mentioned in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Motihari that after returning to Patna, he will hold a cabinet meeting, in which he will seek the approval of the Council of Ministers on his decision to make 125 units of electricity free. A cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of CM Nitish Kumar for this decision.

For this scheme, it was decided to provide an additional amount of Rs 3797 crore to Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited for the financial year 2025-26 under the extension of the Electricity Consumer Assistance Scheme. Along with this, a proposal to provide financial assistance to domestic consumers for setting up a solar power plant of minimum 1.1 kW capacity was also passed in the cabinet.

Cabinet meeting was also held on 15th July

Earlier also, a cabinet meeting was held on July 15, in which many big decisions were taken, including giving jobs and employment to 1 crore youth in the state, giving a lump sum honorarium of Rs 6000 to BLOs and supervisors engaged in the work of voter list revision by the state government.
