News Topical, Digital Desk : Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced that a total of 101 railway stations in Bengal will be renovated under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations will be equipped with modern waiting rooms, elevators, escalators, improved toilets, and other amenities, ensuring a comfortable experience for passengers.

On Friday, he visited the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to inspect the progress of the modernization and redevelopment work being carried out at a cost of approximately ₹500 crore.

The Railway Minister stated that more passenger and mail trains will operate from this station in the future. To this end, the coach maintenance hub at the station is being expanded, which will enhance train maintenance facilities and facilitate direct connectivity from North Bengal to various parts of the country.

Two new platforms are being added to the station, and a new IT hub is also being developed. It was also reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be giving a major gift to Bengal on Saturday.

PM Modi will inaugurate India's first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express from Malda Town Railway Station. This train will be equipped with modern amenities for overnight travel and will strengthen connectivity between the Northeast and Bengal. PM Modi will also launch a dozen new trains for the state.
