UP News: Giving top priority to the safety of children and protection of their rights, the UP government has taken a big step towards further strengthening the Child Helpline 1098. The government aims to ensure that no child feels alone in a crisis situation and gets timely help.

Efforts are being made by the state government to strengthen the Women and Child Helpline Desk. The number of staff at these desks will be increased so that the speed of call response and complaint redressal can be improved. There is also a plan to increase the staff in the Child Helpline units operating in the districts so that the security system can be strengthened at the ground level.

Preparations to increase the number of child help desks in the state
In view of the increasing number of calls in the helpline control room, the government has prepared a proposal to deploy 5 additional call takers. At the same time, 3 multi-tasking staff cum security staff will also be deployed in the child protection units operating in all 75 districts of the state, which will further strengthen the security system for children.

Preparations are being made to increase the number of child help desks at railway and bus stations. At present, these desks are functioning at 23 railway stations, the number of which will be increased to 28. The new stations which are being included in this are - Varanasi, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr and Ghaziabad. Talking about bus stations, currently child help desks are operating at 4 places. In the year 2025-26, their number will be increased to 11. The new bus stations will be Agra, Chandauli, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Meerut, Ghaziabad and Varanasi.

This initiative of the Yogi government has received the approval of
the Government of India and preparations are in full swing to implement it in the year 2025-26. This will not only increase the reach and effectiveness of the helpline, but will also spread awareness about the rights and safety of children in the society on a large scale.
