North Korea has once again launched a garbage attack on South Korea. Kim Jong's country has released about 240 balloons carrying garbage. Out of all these balloons, about 10 have landed in South Korea. Officials gave this information on Sunday.
No balloons were seen floating in the air by 10 a.m. after North Korea sent up such balloons on Saturday, Yonhap news agency reported, citing the South Korean military.
The garbage balloon has been sent eleven times
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the balloons contained paper and plastic bottles and did not contain any hazardous material. North Korea resumed its 'balloon campaign' on Saturday for the first time in more than two weeks. This was also the '11th launch of garbage-filled balloons' this year.
More than 3,600 garbage balloons have been released so far
In July, some balloons reportedly released by North Korea landed at South Korea's presidential office complex in Seoul. North Korea has released more than 3,600 garbage balloons since May 28 in retaliation against balloons carrying anti-Pyongyang leaflets flown by North Korean defectors in South Korea, officials said. In response to the North's campaign, South Korea has been broadcasting massive anti-Pyongyang propaganda daily through its border loudspeakers since mid-July.
The garbage game increased tension between the two countries
It is known that since the end of May, North Korea has flown balloons filled with garbage such as pieces of cloth, cigarette butts, used batteries towards South Korea, although these have not caused any major damage to South Korea. North Korea said that earlier South Korean activists had sent political pamphlets to North Korea through their balloons, in response to which these balloons were launched.
