Syria: A US-led coalition jet in Syria came very close to a Russian plane. The Russian crew demonstrated their skills and prevented the planes from colliding. This incident took place in Syria's Homs province.

TASS shared information

On Sunday, a Russian surveillance plane was flying over Homs province when suddenly a fighter bomber jet of the US-led coalition came dangerously close to it. Russia's state news agency TASS shared this information quoting a Russian military officer stationed in Syria.

The pilot wisely prevented the collision

"An F/A-18 fighter-bomber of the coalition came dangerously close to an An-30 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The Russian crew demonstrated high professionalism and immediately took the necessary measures to prevent a collision," TASS quoted Captain Oleg Ignasyuk as saying. TASS said the incident took place in the al-Tanf region of Homs. The US Department of Defense has not responded to this. Let us tell you that the United States has a military base in Syria's al-Tanf region across the Jordanian border.

900 US troops deployed in Syria

The US has 900 soldiers deployed in Syria and 2500 in neighbouring Iraq. The US soldiers are on a mission to advise and assist local forces. The purpose of their deployment is to prevent the re-emergence of the Islamic State. Let us tell you that in 2014, a large part of both the countries was captured by the Islamic State.
