International: Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah and Israel have both announced large-scale military operations against each other. According to a statement by the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, several explosive drone attacks have been carried out targeting key Israeli military sites. Hezbollah said it fired 'more than 320' Katyusha rockets at Israel.

In response to this threat, the Israeli military launched pre-emptive strikes on targets in Lebanon. The IDF announced these strikes on Sunday morning, saying that they had detected Hezbollah preparing large-scale attacks on Israeli territory.

“In a self-defense act to remove these threats, the IDF is striking terror targets in Lebanon, from which Hezbollah was planning to launch their attacks on Israeli civilians.”

Hezbollah launched 150 projectiles- IDF

"Hezbollah launched more than 150 projectiles from Lebanon towards Israeli territory, which were destroyed by Iron Dome," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a social media post on Twitter. It also added: "We target terrorist infrastructure, they target civilians."

The escalation in the fighting follows weeks of rising tensions as Hezbollah and its regional ally Iran vowed to avenge the killing of its military commander Fuad Shukr last month. The group has described the attack on its commander as a direct provocation and an act of war.
