News Topical, Digital Desk : A new chapter has begun in the relations between India and China. Today on 19 August, in Delhi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his commitment to resolve the border dispute with India, maintain peace on the border and strengthen friendly relations. He said that India and China should consider each other as friends, not rivals. Wang Yi also promised that China will supply rare earth materials, fertilizers and tunnel boring machines to India on time and without any interruption. Now the question arises that what is the reason behind this change in China's stance. Let us understand from Wang Yi's statement.
Wang Yi's statement shows China's changed stance
Wang Yi said on this occasion, 'Both countries have suffered due to the border dispute. Now relations are improving. We hope that relations will improve further with PM Modi's visit to China.' He also believed that India and China need to increase mutual cooperation. Referring to the conversation with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Wang Yi said that both countries should support each other in trade and dealings. Although China had requested India not to get closer to Taiwan, Jaishankar made it clear that India will not end its business and cultural relations with Taiwan.
What is the reason behind the change in China's stance?
Behind this changed attitude of China is India's strong strategy and the rapidly developing infrastructure on the border. India has accelerated the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels and airstrips on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Especially the Nyoma airfield in eastern Ladakh is going to start next month. It is the world's highest airstrip, built at an altitude of 13,700 feet. It is just 35 kilometers away from the LAC. Heavy cargo aircraft like Globemaster, fighter aircraft like Sukhoi, Rafale, MiG-29 and attack helicopters like Apache, MI-17 will be able to land easily from this airfield. In case of emergency, India will be able to rapidly deploy troops and military equipment.
DS-DBO road became the strength of India
The 256 km long DS-DBO road from Durbuk to Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) in eastern Ladakh has further increased India's strategic strength. Earlier it used to take 10-12 hours on this route, but now this distance will be covered in less than 5 hours. Colonel Mahesh said about this, 'Earlier it was difficult to transport troops and weapons to the LAC due to rough roads. Now the DS-DBO road has made this work easier.' 35 new bridges have been built on this road, through which tanks, missile launcher trucks and armored vehicles will be able to pass easily. Many long tunnels and new roads are also being built in Arunachal Pradesh.
China realises India's power
China has now understood that a confrontation with India is harmful for both the countries. India has developed its border infrastructure four times faster in the last 10 years. This improvement in India-China relations has come about due to the hard work of NSA Ajit Doval. Wang Yi's visit also makes it clear that the policies of US President Trump are a challenge for both India and China. If both the countries work together, it will be easy to deal with this. China has realized that India's growing power and its infrastructure are no longer in a position to ignore it.
