News Topical, Digital Desk : Amidst the ongoing tension over the new regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Supreme Court of India may have put a stay on the new UGC regulations, but the political rhetoric continues unabated. Meanwhile, Swami Prasad Maurya, former minister of the Uttar Pradesh government and national president of the Janata Party (JJP), has made a significant statement regarding the UGC.

Former minister Swami Prasad Maurya wrote in his ex-handle (former Twitter), "Those whose fathers, grandfathers and forefathers once beheaded Shamvuk, cut off Eklavya's thumb, their children even today consider it their birthright to oppress, harass and torture the SC/ST/OBC community, make them victims of murder and rape, discriminate in educational institutions and deprive them of wealth, land, education and respect, that is why some of these so-called upper castes are opposing the UGC Equality Committee Act 2026."

'Look closely at the faces of those opposing UGC'

Former minister and national president of his Janata Party, Swami Prasad Maurya, further said, "Look carefully at the faces opposing UGC. These are the same faces to whose forefathers and ancestors you have been giving donations, offerings and feeding them Mal-Pua Halwa in the name of religion."

'Stop giving donations and your arrogance will go away'

Former minister Swami Prasad Maurya also said that "There is an appeal to the SC/ST/OBC brothers that stop feeding Mal-Pua Halwa and giving donations to such people with dirty mentality, their arrogance will automatically go away and they will even forget to oppose UGC."

Swami Prasad Maurya targeted the BJP

Swami Prasad Maurya, while targeting the BJP, said, "The BJP government has once again succeeded in fooling the people of SC/ST/OBC community in the name of UGC regulation law brought to stop the discrimination happening in universities and higher educational institutions."

He said that "BJP's policy was "tell the thief to steal" and "tell the public to stay alert". On the same lines, while on one hand UGC was pretending to please SC/ST/OBC through the Equality Act, on the other hand it was also getting the upper castes to oppose it, which was feared, exactly what happened. At the behest of the government, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court and the implementation of the UGC Regulation Act was finally stopped."

He also said, "While SC/ST/OBC are happy with the enactment of the law, the upper castes are also happy with the stay granted by the judiciary. This is called a chess move where the snake is dead and the stick is not broken. Beware of the BJP's deception."
