News Topical, Digital Desk : A major conspiracy by Hamas, a terrorist organization working against Israel, has been uncovered. The organization is now preparing to attack Europe. It is gradually expanding its reach across Europe. After Italy, a Lebanese citizen has been arrested in Germany.

Initial investigations have revealed a major plot by the group to attack Jewish and Israeli targets in Europe for the first time. This comes after the largest European case involving Hamas funding was uncovered in Italy in December 2025.

Charity funding bust

Nine suspects were arrested in Italy, and their interrogation uncovered a Hamas-linked charity funding network. Previously, Hamas-linked suspects were detained in the Netherlands and Denmark. Investigations and actions related to weapons storage and logistical support have also been confirmed in several other European countries, including Austria.

What is the new module?

According to European security agencies, Hamas has developed a multi-layered and dangerous module in Europe. This module was designed to ensure that the arrest of an individual, the banning of the organization, or the freezing of bank accounts does not render the entire network inactive. Investigations have found that identities and organizations have changed, but the network remains the same.

Agencies believe that extremist networks took advantage of the mass protests and online campaigns to expand their activities. Many of the individuals arrested or suspected have lived in Europe for several years, some as refugees.

How does this network work?

  • This Hamas network operates in three layers. The first layer consists of organizations operating under the guise of humanitarian aid, social, and political activities, which provide the network with a legitimate social base.
  • The second layer is a core network of limited people who handle fund transfers, international contacts, and strategic coordination.
  • The third and most sensitive layer comprises cells that handle logistics, weapons arrangements and preparation for attacks, if required.

Crores of rupees were raised through charity in Italy and ammunition in Germany.

Approximately €754 million was funneled to Hamas through Italian charities. More than 70 percent of this money was collected under the guise of humanitarian aid and then diverted to the terrorist network. Assets worth more than €8 million were seized in the operation.

The suspect arrested in Germany was an active Hamas member and played a role in arranging ammunition for attacks in Europe. He was in contact with suspects who have already been arrested in connection with arms transactions.
