News Topical, Digital Desk : If you have invested in mutual funds from different places, sometimes through SIP, sometimes in tax saving schemes, sometimes by investing lump sum amount, then after a while it becomes difficult to understand where all your money is invested and how much return you are getting. In such a situation, one thing comes forward to help you, that is your PAN number.

Why is PAN number your biggest strength?

PAN number is not just for paying taxes, it links all your mutual fund investments to you. No matter how much money you have invested and in which fund, every investment will be linked to the same PAN. This lets you see the money stuck in different folios. This means that information about every fund is available at one place and reporting of tax or capital gains also becomes easy.

CAS report will give you the complete picture of investment

Due to SEBI rules and digital technology, you no longer need to visit the website of each fund and login. Now you can view your Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) just through PAN. This is a report that contains information about all the mutual fund folios linked to your name, such as when did you invest, in which scheme, how many units you have, what is the current value, whether SIP is active or not and how much return you got.

How to check your CAS report?

To get this report you just have to follow these steps

First of all go to the website of MF Central, CAMS Online, KFintech, NSDL or CDSL.

Select 'Request CAS' or 'View Portfolio' option there.

Then enter your PAN number, registered email or mobile number and date of birth if required.

You will receive an OTP, after entering which you can see your report.

You can decide whether you want the report once or monthly, and whether you want it emailed or viewed on your screen.

Don't panic if you don't see any investments

Sometimes it may happen that some investments are not visible in your CAS report. This does not mean that the money is lost. It may be that the folio is linked to another PAN (such as that of a joint holder), or your KYC is incomplete. The solution to this is to update the KYC in your folio. You can easily complete eKYC through Aadhaar on websites like CAMS or KFintech.

MITRA: A new way to find forgotten investments

SEBI has launched a new platform in March 2024, MITRA, i.e. Mutual fund Investment Tracing and Reclaim Application. If you think that you had made an investment earlier and have now forgotten, then go to MITRA, enter PAN and date of birth and trace the old funds. This is especially beneficial for those who have inherited the investment. That is, those who invested offline before 2010, whose email or mobile number is not registered in the folio.
