Kolkata: The CBI is investigating the rape and murder of a junior woman doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. On Thursday, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said, "As far as I know, I will not blame the students... The incident is very unfortunate. We still say that the culprits should be hanged. We have given all the documents, nothing was leaked while our police was investigating."

no innocent should be punished

Banerjee said that my sympathies and those of the people of Bengal are with the victim's family. This is a very big crime and the only punishment for this is hanging the accused. If the culprit is hanged then only people will learn a lesson from this but no innocent should be punished.

The rioters have no connection with the student movement

Mamata Banerjee said that the people who vandalised and created ruckus in RG Kar Hospital yesterday have no connection with the student movement of RG Kar Medical College. They are outsiders. I have seen as many videos as I can, I have three videos in which some people are holding the national flag, they are BJP people. There are some DYFI people who are holding white and red flags.

The matter is now in the hands of CBI

The CM said that yesterday the police was also attacked. I would like to congratulate them (police) that they did not lose patience. They did not hurt anyone. Now the matter is not in our hands. It is in the hands of the CBI. If you have something to say then tell the CBI, we have no objection.
