The film Phule was considered one of the most important films of this year. Amidst all the action, drama and romance, the film industry was coming up with a story that the audience must know about. However, since the trailer, it has been accused of hurting the sentiments. Now Pratik Gandhi, who is playing the lead role in the movie, has also given his side on this. The actor has said that he hoped that the film would be released on its scheduled date of April 11, which coincides with the 197th birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotirao Phule.

Delay in release even after amendments

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the film a 'U' certificate on April 7, but also asked for some changes. According to the information, CBFC has instructed to remove words like 'Mahar', 'Mang', 'Peshwai', 'Manusmriti caste system' from the film and completely delete a voiceover that described the caste system. Director Anant Mahadevan said that he has made all the necessary changes. After the trailer was released on April 10, some people from the Brahmin community objected that they were portrayed in a wrong way in the film. This led to a controversy and the release of the film was postponed to April 25.

The date of April 11 was special

Pratik Gandhi, who plays Phule in the film, said that it was disappointing that the film was not released on April 11. He said, Prateek also said that some dialogues in the film have been toned down, but there has been no compromise on the film's core message. He said, “Some people objected to the trailer, but I request them to form an opinion only after watching the full film. Things shown in the trailer may be out of context.”

The director said the controversy was unnecessary

Director Anant Mahadevan said that he has accepted all the suggestions of CBFC and there is nothing in the film that insults any community. He has tried to avoid controversy by postponing the release of the film. Patralekha will be seen in the role of Savitribai Phule in the film and Zee Studios will release it in theaters on April 25.
