News Topical, Digital Desk : The Uttarakhand government distributes government salt at the rate of Rs 8 per kg from cheap ration shops. Some people had alleged that this salt also contains sand. After this, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed the District Magistrates of all the districts of the state to investigate.

Following the CM's instructions, District Magistrate Nitin Bhadoria had asked the District Food Protection and Drug Administration department to collect the samples from the cheap ration shops in the urban and rural areas of the district and send it for testing. 

The Food Protection Department sent samples from these districts for testing

On the instructions of the DM, the District Food Protection and Drug Administration Department has collected 35 samples from Khatima, Sitarganj, Gadarpur, Kichha, Nanakmatta, Rudrapur, Bajpur, Kashipur, Jaspur for testing and sent the samples to the State Food and Drug Testing Laboratory, Rudrapur, the report of which will come within 10 to 12 days.

Some videos have been uploaded on social media by common people testing salt. In these videos, it is being claimed that there is only sand in the salt. These videos are going viral very fast on social media.

Salt is distributed under the Chief Minister's Salt Poshit Yojana

Under the Chief Minister's Namak Poshit Yojana by the Dhami government of Uttarakhand, salt is sold at the rate of eight rupees per kilo through all the government ration shops of the state. Photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Food Minister Rekha Arya are printed on this salt packet.

District Food Safety Officer Dr. Prakash Phulara said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, salt samples have been collected from 35 government ration shops located in urban and rural areas of Udham Singh Nagar district and sent to the State Food and Drug Testing Laboratory, Rudrapur for testing. The report will come within 10 to 12 days, if the salt sample fails the test, further action will be taken.

Food Safety Department in action on CM's order

After receiving a complaint from CM Pushkar Singh Dhami about the amount of sand in the salt sold from Sasta Galle shops under the Mukhyamantri Namak Poshit Yojana, he ordered an investigation. After the instructions of CM Dhami, the District Food Protection and Drug Administration Department has collected samples in 13 districts of the state and sent them for investigation.
