Meerut : The STF Meerut unit caught two gang members involved in smuggling ganja on Thursday. 190 kg ganja was recovered from their possession. Its price in the international market is said to be 90 lakh rupees. Police have filed a report against both the ganja smugglers at the Sirsaganj police station in the Firozabad district. Both were presented in the court. From where they were sent to jail.
ASP Brijesh Kumar Singh of STF Meerut unit said that STF had been getting information about drug smuggling from Odisha for a long time. It was found that the gang members were bringing ganja from Odisha. They had to deliver it to someone in Agra and Mathura.
190 kilograms of ganja recovered
STF surrounded the smugglers. On 1 August, a team led by Sunil Kumar of STF surrounded the area in Firozabad. STF stopped a truck near Ukhrand cut on NH-19 of Sirsaganj police station. During the search, 190 kg of ganja was recovered from it.
The cost of the ganja is 90 lakh rupees.
Vivek Kumar, son of Ramhari, resident of village Aurangabad police station Mundkati district Palwal Haryana and Madhav, son of Bhagat, resident of Dalia police station Kuchaykot district Bhopalganj Bihar, who were present in the truck, were arrested. ASP said that the cost of the seized ganja is 90 lakh rupees.
Search for the gang leader.
This gang is run by Chandrama Singh, a resident of Gopalganj in Bihar. The ganja that has been seized was to be given to Rakesh alias Bannu in Govardhan, Mathura. The ASP said that the main leader of the gang and Rakesh alias Bannu are being searched for. They will be arrested soon.
