Yogi Inaugurates ₹8-Crore Shelter Home in Gorakhpur, Developed India Needs Safe, Respected Daughters
Emphasizing that national progress remains fundamentally tied to the security and dignity of women, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the newly completed State Women's Shelter in Chargawan, Gorakhpur on Wednesday. Constructed with a capital allocation of approximately ₹8.05 crore, the 100-bed modern facility is designed to provide comprehensive institutional rehabilitation, legal guidance, and temporary lodging for destitute women, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals separated from their familial support networks. Following an extensive walk-through of the residential blocks and medical wings, the Chief Minister directed district administrative officers to ensure top-tier living amenities and counseling services tailored to individual rehabilitation needs.
Overhauling Law and Order and Expanding Direct Benefit Welfare
Addressing an audience of public representatives and beneficiaries, the Chief Minister underscored that systemic safety overhauls since 2017 have created an enabling environment for female education and enterprise across Uttar Pradesh. Drawing a direct contrast with previous administrative tenures, he noted that decisive action against organized crime, land encroachments, and street harassment has restored public confidence. Complementing administrative enforcement, the state provides continuous lifecycle support through key flagship interventions, including the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana—which disburses ₹25,000 in structured milestones from birth through higher education—and the Mukhyamantri Samoohik Vivah Yojana, offering financial support of ₹1,00,000 for matrimonial ceremonies of daughters from low-income households.
Youth Employment Milestones and Primary Education Push
Highlighting broader developmental indicators, the Chief Minister detailed progress across governance benchmarks, education logistics, and youth recruitment drives. Under the state’s flagship Mission Rozgar initiative, the administration has successfully handed out permanent government recruitment appointments to more than 9.5 lakh candidates. In the grassroots industrial space, over 9.6 lakh registered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) together with 24,000 active technology startups have sustained livelihood generation for more than 3 crore individuals. Concurrently, social welfare coverage under the Basic Education Council guarantees free uniforms, footwear, seasonal knitwear, school bags, and textbooks to over 1.60 crore enrolled students across state-run primary schools.
Economic Independence for Women and Healthcare Turnaround
Outlining the growth of grassroots female entrepreneurship, Chief Minister Yogi highlighted structural vehicles such as the Lakhpati Didi network, agricultural Drone Didi programs, and the Banking Correspondent (BC) Sakhi cadre, which have decentralized financial inclusion into remote panchayats while fostering financial self-reliance. He also underscored the dramatic decline in Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis mortality across eastern Uttar Pradesh as a testament to systemic public health upgrades. During the event, the Chief Minister personally handed laptops to 10 student beneficiaries supported under the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana (COVID relief initiative), following an on-site progress inspection of the nearby State Juvenile Observation Home, an ongoing 100-capacity infrastructure facility being constructed at an investment of ₹14.87 crore.
