CM Yogi to Inaugurate UP TEX-2026 in Lucknow Today: National Textile Leaders Gather to Boost Investment and Weaver Welfare

Uttar Pradesh’s handloom, textile, and garmenting sector is poised for a massive leap forward as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurates UP TEX-2026 today, September 8, 2026. Running through September 9 at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, the prestigious two-day summit brings together leading textile manufacturers, investors, and industry tycoons from across the nation. The landmark event aims to showcase the state's growing manufacturing potential, expand global trade ties, and create millions of new employment opportunities under the Yogi government's proactive industrial policies.

Driving Investment Through Progressive Textile Policies

Since 2017, the Handloom and Textiles Department under the Yogi administration has systematically revitalized the sector through forward-thinking frameworks like the Uttar Pradesh Handloom, Powerloom, Silk, Textile and Garmenting Policy-2017 and the comprehensive Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy-2022.

These progressive policies have successfully attracted massive domestic and international capital. To date, Letters of Comfort have been issued to 214 textile units for new establishments, expansions, and diversification projects, with ₹416.75 crore in direct financial assistance successfully disbursed to 157 operational units.

Empowering Weavers with Multi-Crore Financial Assistance

Recognizing the vital contribution of traditional artisans, the Yogi government has launched targeted welfare schemes to integrate handloom and powerloom weavers into modern production networks:

• Chief Minister Handloom and Powerloom Industry Development Scheme: Initiated in the 2023-24 fiscal year, this program has extended ₹73.18 crore in financial assistance to 4,122 weavers for purchasing modern looms, constructing workshops, and receiving technical training.

• Jhalkari Bai Kori Handloom and Powerloom Development Scheme: Specifically designed to uplift weavers from Scheduled Caste communities, this initiative has distributed ₹77.45 crore in financial aid to 4,039 beneficiaries.

• Atal Bihari Powerloom Weavers Flat Rate Electricity Scheme: To drastically reduce operational and production costs, the government has approved a staggering ₹3,446.44 crore in financial support, directly benefiting 99,929 powerloom electricity consumers.

Developing Mega Textile Parks and Infrastructure

To establish Uttar Pradesh as a global hub for textile manufacturing, the state government is rapidly building world-class industrial infrastructure. A massive PM Mitra Park is currently under development across 1,000 acres on the Lucknow-Hardoi border, with its boundary wall already 95 percent complete.

Furthermore, following the announcement of the Sant Kabir Textile and Apparel Park Scheme on October 3, 2025, land identification is underway for specialized textile parks across Varanasi, Sant Kabir Nagar, Bareilly, Bijnor, Amroha, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Mau, and Kanpur Nagar.

New Skill Development and Prosperity Schemes for 2026-27

To maintain a steady supply of skilled manpower for upcoming industrial units, the state launched the Uttar Pradesh Textile Sector Training and Skill Development Scheme for the 2026-27 fiscal year. Simultaneously, the newly introduced Chief Minister Handloom Weavers' Prosperity Scheme organizes independent artisans into collaborative groups, fostering collective production, boosting domestic and international market reach, and significantly increasing weaver incomes.
