News Topical, Digital Desk : Panic erupted at Mau Railway Station in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday (January 6, 2026) when a bomb threat was received on the Kashi Express (15018) train traveling from Gorakhpur to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai). Security agencies were alerted, and the entire station premises were in a state of panic. Prioritizing passenger safety, strict measures were immediately taken.
Upon receiving information about the bomb, a police force led by Superintendent of Police Ilamaran and Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar arrived at the scene. Police Inspector Anil Kumar Singh, a joint team of the GRP and RPF, acted swiftly and evacuated the train and evacuated the passengers to safety. Subsequently, a thorough investigation was launched with the help of the bomb squad.
Bomb alert causes panic among passengers
According to reports, every coach of the 15018 train, traveling from Gorakhpur to Lokmanya Tilak Terminal, is being thoroughly searched. The platform and surrounding area have been cordoned off and secured. This sudden action has created panic among passengers, although the administration is making continuous announcements urging people to remain calm and safe.
The decision on departure of the train will be taken after the investigation is completed.
Security agencies are currently on high alert, and a decision on the train's departure will be made only after the investigation is complete. The truth behind the bomb threat will be known only after the investigation, but previously, on November 30, 2025, at Jhansi railway station, a fight over seats between passengers aboard the Hirakud Express escalated to the point where one passenger accused three Muslim passengers of being terrorists.
