According to the report of the Central Water Commission, on Wednesday, the Ganga river is flowing above the danger mark at Kachla Bridge (Badaun), Ghazipur, Chhatnag and Phaphamau (Prayagraj), Ballia, Mirzapur and Varanasi. Similarly, the Ghaghra river is flowing above the danger mark at Ayodhya and Elgin Bridge (Barabanki).
According to the report, Yamuna river is flowing above the danger mark in Naini (Prayagraj). At the same time, the water level of Rapti river in Bhinga (Shravasti) and Rapti Barrage (Shravasti) is still above the red mark. Sharda canal is flowing above the danger mark in Paliakalan (Lakhimpur Kheri) but now its water level is decreasing. The flood in the rivers has had a bad effect on life in many districts of the state.
According to the report received from Prayagraj, after reaching above the danger mark due to heavy rains for the last several days, the water level of Ganga and Yamuna has started decreasing from Wednesday, but 107 wards and localities of Sadar Tehsil are still surrounded by flood water.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Vinita Singh said that people are feeling relieved as the water level of the rivers is coming down, but 107 wards and localities under Sadar Tehsil are affected by the flood, among which Rajapur, Beli Kachhar, Chandpur Salori, Govindpur, Chhota Baghada and Bada Baghada are majorly affected.
Due to the increase in the water level of Ganga and Saryu rivers in Ballia district, the number of flood-affected villages is continuously increasing.
According to the report received from Ballia, 11-year-old boy Yuvraj Gupta died by drowning while bathing in flood water in Paschim Tola Haldi village of Haldi police station area today. His body has been taken out with the help of divers and police and sent for post-mortem.
According to the data provided by the in-charge of the flood control room of the district administration, the water level of the Ganga river was 59 meters 86 centimeters at 8 am on Thursday, which is two meters 25 centimeters above the danger mark. The Saryu river is flowing 14 centimeters above the danger mark in Turtipar.
According to the district administration, Ballia Sadar and Bairia tehsils of Ballia district are mainly affected by the flood. A population of about 25 thousand in a total of 17 revenue villages of Bairia tehsil is affected by the flood. At the same time, 58 revenue villages of Ballia Sadar tehsil area have been affected. Also, a total of five wards in Ballia Nagar Palika area have also been affected.
What is the situation in Varanasi?
According to the report received from Varanasi, although the water level of Ganga is decreasing, a total of 28 wards are affected by its flood.
According to officials, on Wednesday, District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar along with Mayor Ashok Tiwari visited the affected areas like Harishchandra Ghat, Harshad Ghat, Ravidas Ghat, Samne Ghat, Gyan Pravah etc. by motor boat and inspected the works being done for flood relief.
Officials said that the mayor and the district magistrate reached the Kashi Integrated Command and Control Center and took stock of the flood-affected area from there and instructed the people in the control room to remain fully alert and keep an eye on the flood-affected area 24 hours a day.
Kaushambi is also in a bad condition
According to the report received from Kaushambi, due to continuous rain for the last few days, the water level of Ganga and Yamuna has increased and the roads leading to some villages have been flooded. The district administration has arranged boats for the movement of villagers.
Deputy District Magistrate (Chail) Akash Singh said that due to waterlogging on the roads of Kataiya and Badhari villages of Chail tehsil, the district administration has made arrangements for boats for the movement of villagers.
According to him, 'anti-venom injections' and first aid material have been made available at flood posts. However, flood-affected people are staying in the houses of nearby villagers instead of going to flood posts.
Similarly, due to flood water of Yamuna river filling up through Pabhosa, Chak Pinha, Bhawansuri, Malhipur and Singhwal villages of Manjhanpur tehsil area, the administration has made arrangements for boats here too.
