Man drowned during video call with mother
Rohit Mahadevu, representative of the Indian National Students' Association (INSA) UK at the university, said, "He was on a video call with his mother, who had warned him not to go into the water. But he went into the water to see how deep it was. That's when he was swept away by the strong current.
It's a remote area, so it took time to call emergency services. His body was found around 5-6 p.m. " INSA has launched a fundraiser on JustGiving to help bring his body back to India. The deceased's mother has applied for a visa to come to the UK to collect her son's body.
