News Topical, Digital Desk : A wild elephant, identified as Kabali, blocked a major forest road in Palakkad, Kerala. Reports indicate the elephant's rampage caused a traffic jam on the interstate highway for approximately 18 hours, with hundreds of cars stranded on both sides.

The incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Sunday when a wild elephant suddenly appeared on the Athirappilly-Malakkappara interstate highway and felled a palm tree. The fallen tree blocked the road.

Wild elephant created panic on the road

A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the elephant causing havoc. Many travelers were forced to wait while forest officials narrowly escaped while trying to drive the elephant back into the forest.

Street Highway closed for 18 hours 

By late night, "Kabali" returned to the forest after traveling approximately 16 kilometers. According to NDTV, the resulting traffic jam left many tourists stranded for hours without food or water. Traffic was resumed at 7 a.m. Monday after the elephant returned to the forest and the tree was removed from the road.

The growing terror of 'Kabali' 

According to forest officials, Kabali is known for his "notorious" behavior. Last year, he stopped an ambulance and injured a biker. In 2022, he attacked a jeep. The 33-year-old elephant is said to be going through its "musth," an annual cycle lasting from a few weeks to several months, during which male elephants exhibit erratic behavior.
