We have already told you that Nana Patekar and Ashok Saraf were together since their theatre days. Ashok Saraf is senior to Nana Patekar. While the 'Koyla' actor used to get Rs 250 for a play, Nana used to earn only Rs 50.
To help his friend, Ashok Saraf not only got a foot massage done by him before going to the play, but he also used to play cards in which he would intentionally lose so that Nana Patekar could win and he could help him financially without humiliating him.
