News Topical, Digital Desk : No one can forget the time during COVID-19. During the lockdown, many people were heading home, and many photos went viral, leaving people emotional. One such photo was of two friends whose picture shook social media. The story of these friends is the basis for the film "Homebound," which has been submitted as India's official entry to the Oscars.

What is the real life story of Homebound?

Siddiqui, the film's real-life character, watched Homebound, a film based on his life, a day after its release last week. He and four friends watched the film on Saturday at a theatre in Dubai, where 27-year-old Siddiqui now works. Far from Surat during the lockdown, he and his friend Amrit Prasad were trying to return home during the first wave of Covid. Amrit died during this time. Far from the village in Uttar Pradesh where they grew up together, Homebound is a deep reminder to Saiyyub of that long journey.

During this journey, his friend passed away, and Saiyub held him in his arms. This photo touched people's hearts. Three years after a photo of him holding his dying friend on the roadside went viral, Mohammad Saiyub Siddiqui saw Homebound, a film based on his story, in a Dubai theater.

How did Saiyyub like the film?

Director Neeraj Ghaywan later contacted Basharat Peer after reading his article and made a film based on friendship that transcends religion and caste. When Saiyyub was asked how he felt about the film, he smiled and said, "Some things have been dramatized, but Neeraj has done a great job."

Sayyeb has been working in construction in Dubai since 2023, sharing a room with four people and sending home 12,000-13,000 rupees per month. He helped arrange the weddings of Amrit's two sisters and has been in Dubai since 2023.
