
News Topical, Digital Desk : Bharatpur News: A Mahapanchayat was organized by the Gurjar Reservation Struggle Committee on Sunday (8 June) in Karwari-Pilupura of Bayana subdivision of Bharatpur district. About 7000 people of the Gurjar community gathered in the Mahapanchayat to demand reservation. Many demands were also made. Meanwhile, many youths became violent.
Meanwhile, Sadar police station in-charge Krishnavir Singh has registered a case on Monday (June 9) against some protesters who participated in the Gurjar Panchayat held in Bharatpur demanding reservation.
Earlier during the meeting, the Rajasthan government sent a draft proposal in view of the demands of the Gurjar community. The draft proposal was read out in the Mahapanchayat by Vijay Bainsla, president of the Gurjar Reservation Struggle Committee. Under the draft, the government also assured the Gurjars that all the irregularities under the Devnarayan scheme will be rectified with the advice of the committee members and proper benefits will be provided to the community under the MBC quota. With the consent of the Gurjar community, the Mahapanchayat was also formally announced to be concluded.
After the peaceful conclusion of the Mahapanchayat, the agitation took a new turn, some youths, who are REET candidates under the MBC category, turned violent and blocked the Mumbai-Delhi railway route. The agitators stopped the Mathura-Sawai Madhopur local train-54794 and captured the train and damaged railway property. The railway route remained blocked for about two hours. About eight trains were affected due to the blockade of the railway route.
Mahapanchayat was held regarding various demands of Gurjar community.
Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti put forward seven major demands before the Rajasthan government in the Mahapanchayat of Gurjar community. These include inclusion of MBC quota in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, proper implementation of agreements made during previous movements and giving the benefit of 5 percent reservation in government jobs.
They also demanded effective implementation of Devnarayan Yojana, withdrawal of police cases registered against agitators, compassionate appointment for the families of those killed in previous protests and filling of 372 posts reserved for MBC candidates under the REET recruitment process.
Case registered against protesters
Sadar police station in-charge Krishnavir Singh has registered a case against some protesters who participated in the Gujjar Panchayat held in Bharatpur demanding reservation. Police have registered a case against some youths under sections 191(2), 191(3), 190, 285, 125 BNS, 3 PDPP Act, 147, 150, 151, 174 and Railway Act 1989 for damaging railway property, blocking the railway track and damaging the train engine.
While registering the case, the police has said that after the Mahapanchayat of Gurjar community ended, some youths who were REET candidates under the MBC category became violent and blocked the Mumbai-Delhi railway route. They stopped Mathura-Sawai Madhopur local train-54794.
After being instigated by the leaders of Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti during the panchayat, they captured the train and damaged railway property. The rail route remained blocked for about two hours, where about eight trains were affected and the railway track remained blocked. Bayana Railway Section Engineer Ram Singh said that we reached Bayana Sadar police station to lodge a complaint against the protesters, but the police have already registered a case of damaging railway property.
What did the railway police officer say?
Bharatpur Railway Police Force (RPF) station in-charge Pradeep Kumar Tiwari said that Bayana Sadar police has registered a case against those who damaged railway property. The police have collected several videos to identify the protesters who blocked the railway route and damaged railway property. The Railway Police will also register a complaint against the agitators after getting all the inputs and identifying them.
