News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump criticized the Norwegian government for not awarding the Nobel Peace Prize. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre distanced himself from the allegations and categorically told Trump that the Norwegian government had nothing to do with the decision to award the Nobel Prize.

Norway's PM responds to Trump

The Norwegian Prime Minister stated, “I have explained clearly to everyone, including President Trump, that this award is given by an independent Nobel Committee, not the Norwegian government. The Norwegian Prime Minister explained that he had given this reply in response to Trump's message.”

Jonas Gahr Støre added, "I can confirm that this is a text message I received yesterday afternoon from President Trump. It was in response to a short text message I sent earlier that day, on behalf of myself and the President of Finland."

Trump regrets not winning the Nobel

Trump had written to the Norwegian PM, 'Given that your country did not award me the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing more than 8 wars, I no longer feel any obligation to think solely about peace. Although peace will always be important to me, I can now think about what is good and right for the United States of America.'
