News Topical, Digital Desk : China on Monday warned its citizens against travelling to Japan during next month's Lunar New Year holidays, China's longest public holiday.
Tensions between the two countries have escalated since Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks about Taiwan in early November. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Chinese citizens in Japan faced serious security threats.
Beijing issued a similar warning in November after Takaichi said a possible Chinese attack on Taiwan could trigger military action by Tokyo. The comments angered Beijing, which responded with export restrictions, flight cancellations, and sharp comments.
