It is believed that Hanuman Ji makes the life of devotees who worship him with a true heart free from sorrows. Along with Hanuman Chalisa, it is also mentioned in other religious texts that by worshipping Hanuman Ji, eight types of siddhis and nine types of nidhis come true. According to a line written in Hanuman Chalisa, Hanuman ji is said to be the giver of Ashta Siddhi and nine Nidhi. He got the boon of these from mother Janaki. Apart from this, Ashta Siddhis are also mentioned in Markandeya Purana and Brahmavaivart Purana. These are as follows -
Ashta Siddhis -
Anima - means Hanuman ji can assume a very subtle form whenever he wants.
Mahima: With the power of this siddhi, Hanuman can assume any form of any size.
Garima – With the help of this siddhi, Hanuman Ji can increase his weight to any extent.
Laghima - Under this siddhi, Hanuman Ji can reduce his weight as much as he wants.
Prapti (attainment) – Hanuman Ji can obtain any object instantly.
Prakamya - With the power of this siddhi, Hanuman ji has the ability to obtain the desired object.
Ishitva – Hanuman ji has divine powers.
Vashitva – Hanuman ji is self-controlled and has complete control over his mind.
What are the nine funds
Padma Nidhi - A person endowed with this Nidhi is Satvik. He is also endowed with gold and silver gems and donates generously.
- Mahapadma Nidhi – The one targeted by Mahapadma Nidhi is also Satvik and charitable.
- Neel Nidhi - In this Nidhi, both Satva and Raja Gunas are mixed in the person. His wealth lasts for three generations.
- Mukunda Nidhi - In this Nidhi, man is endowed with Rajoguna, therefore it is called a Nidhi of royal nature. In this, man is engaged in collecting wealth of the state.
- Nand Nidhi - Nand Nidhi is a mixture of Raja and Tama qualities. In this, the seeker gets long life and continuous progress.
- Makar Nidhi - A person blessed with Makar Nidhi is a collector of weapons and overpowers his enemies.
- Kachhap Nidhi - A person endowed with Kachhap Nidhi is of Tamas Guna. He consumes his wealth himself.
- Shankha Nidhi – This fund is for one generation only.
- Kharva Nidhi - A person endowed with this Nidhi is a mixture of the other 8 Nidhis. Therefore, a person with Kharva Nidhi shows mixed results.
