warm welcome
Family and villagers welcomed Rikhi warmly with music and flowers. He wiped away tears as he reunited with his siblings Durga Ram, Chander Mohan, Chandramani, Kaushalya Devi, Kala Devi, and Sumitra Devi after four decades. Rikhi was working at a hotel in Yamunanagar, Haryana, when he suffered a head injury in a major road accident while traveling to Ambala in 1980, losing his memory completely and disappearing. His friends then nicknamed him Ravi Choudhary.
Memory returned after the second injury
A second injury a few months ago changed her life again. Old, blurry images of mango trees, narrow lanes, and the courtyard of a house in a place called Sataun, her native village of Nadi, began appearing in her dreams. Rikhi realized they were not dreams but memories. With the help of a college student, Rikhi located Sataun and contacted a man named Rudra Prakash through a phone number she found while searching for villages on Google.
As word spread, Rikhi's relative, M.K. Choubey, identified her forgotten past and, after matching other details, was able to reunite her with her family members in Nadi village. Mental health expert Dr. Aditya Sharma said on Friday, "Such cases are rare, and the exact cause will only be known after a brain medical examination."
