News Topical, Digital Desk : The Calcutta High Court has granted bail to social media influencer Sharmistha Panoli in the case of posting a communal video. Justice Raja Basu gave her relief while giving his verdict. However, the court has granted bail to Sharmistha with two big conditions.

The court has completely banned Sharmishtha from leaving the country. The court has said that Sharmishtha cannot go out of the country without the permission of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM). The court has also directed her to fill a bail bond of Rs 10,000.

Court is concerned about Sharmishtha's safety

Apart from this, the court has also asked the Calcutta police to take appropriate action on the basis of the complaint lodged regarding Sharmishtha's safety. Sharmishtha told the court that she is also being threatened on social media.

What did the court say on freedom of expression?

During the hearing, the bench said that we have complete freedom of expression. This does not mean that you can hurt anyone's religious sentiments. Any person should be careful while making such comments, because in our country people of different communities, castes and religions live together.

At the same time, the court said that even if the punishment is less than seven years, the police has full right to arrest anyone.
